Ken Robertson has been a forester practically his whole life. He started planting trees when he was 12 years old. By the time he was a teen, he had his own company planting trees and cruising timber. After getting his degree in forestry from Mississippi State, he worked for another company for a few short years, but it wasn’t long before he was once again running his own consultant company, Timber Investment Managers.

Based in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Timber Investment Managers is focused on all things silviculture, including herbicide applications, reforestation, tree planting, and timber sales. “We are a turn-key vendor,” Robertson said. “We have upwards of 10 registered foresters on staff, and we can take care of whatever is needed from start to finish.”

Having been in the industry so long, Robertson has seen many changes over the years—“Thirty years ago, we weren’t getting phone calls to create wildlife habitats and now we do as much of that as we do timber growth,” he shared—but what hasn’t changed is his love for the industry. “I love being busy and how our work never stops,” he said.
