PROFILE

Thomas Lang's journey in forestry is rooted in a love for the outdoors that began in childhood. "I just knew I wanted to work outside," he recalls, fondly remembering roaming through the woods and working on his father’s farm. After earning his forestry degree from Auburn in 1980, Lang gained extensive experience managing timberland across the South. His career has spanned roles from timber cruising to site preparation and logging supervision, all of which honed his understanding of land management.

Now, working independently from his home base just outside Dothan, Lang offers a personal, tailored approach to timber sales, appraisals, and management through his company, Lang Forestry Consultants. His clients range from those focused on maximizing timber revenue to those interested in recreational land use. Lang’s expertise is especially valuable given today’s timber market challenges, which demand patience and creativity to secure strong deals. "It’s an important decision for landowners," Lang says. "It may be a once-in-a-lifetime decision, and every landowner’s needs are different. My goal is always  to get them the best deal possible."
