There are many aspects of the industry that attracted Jason Goforth into forestry, like the ability to be outdoors all day and that no two days are the same. But the biggest attraction was getting some experience in the industry while working for his dad one summer while in college. “I grew up around forestry because my dad, Ricky, had been in the industry for years,” Goforth added. “But it was in college when I fell in love with forestry and changed my major very quickly.”

After working in procurement for a timber company for a couple of years after college, Goforth went to work with his father. After just a few short years, they bought out the territory and opened their own company, Goforth Forest Management, Inc., in 2001. Since then, Goforth, his father, and his brother, Ryan, have been in business together providing complete forest management services to private landowners.

While based in Meridian, Mississippi, the Goforths offer their full range of services to clients in Alabama. Those services include everything from site prep and tree planting to prescribed burns, timber sales, and management plans. “Working with so many different clients, all with different goals, is enjoyable and rewarding,” Goforth said. “We have clients we’ve worked for decades that have become like family. It’s just a family-oriented business all the way around.”
