When Earl Flowers moved to Alabama from Georgia to take a job with Allied Paper Company, he knew he had a good job opportunity at a growing company. What he didn’t know was that it would lead to a lifetime in the industry.

Flowers joined Allied in its procurement department, but when the company was bought out a few years later, he decided to start his own consulting business. Through A&M Forest Consultants, Inc., Flowers helps clients manage their property, as well as buy and sell timber. “Working with clients has provided the most enjoyment for me,” Flowers said. “Many of them have been absentee landowners or those who inherited land and didn’t know what to do with it. I get a lot of enjoyment from helping them figure it out and meet their goals.”

While Flowers has enjoyed helping his clients for the past 40-plus years, he’s also enjoyed that it has been a family affair. His wife, Denise, has played a huge role in his success, and his son Clint works with him as well. “Denise has been a big part of the company; without her help I probably wouldn’t have made it,” he said. “I’m proud my son has been able to step in and grow the company. It has been a real family effort, and it continues to be.”
