Biography

David H. Corliss, Jr. graduated in 2016 from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science in Forestry. Before opening his own company, Corliss Land & Timber Inc. based out of Fairhope, David was a timber buyer for Conecuh Timber. He has experience in forest management plans and applications, timber cruising, timber appraisal and procurement. David does any forestry services or will subcontract it out. He also is a real estate agent focused on timber and recreational land. During the summer, his main focus is cogon grass and popcorn tree treatments.

PROFILE

David Corliss got a close look at what it means to be a forester at a fairly young age. Growing up, his mentor was a forester. “He would take me out to cruise timber with him,” Corliss added. “So from the time I was 12 or so, I was really interested in forestry.”

That interest led Corliss to Auburn University, where he received his degree in forestry in 2016. After graduating, he got more experience in the industry by working as a timber buyer. “I worked with logging crews a lot,” he said. “It was a great opportunity to get my feet wet.” Soon after, he decided to go out on his own and formed Corliss Land & Timber, Inc., a consulting business based in Fairhope. Corliss travels all over the Fairhope area, mainly throughout Baldwin and Mobile counties but also in surrounding counties and even into Mississippi. He assists each client with their specific needs, whether it be invasive species control, replating, site preparation, road work, or timber sales. With his real estate license, he also helps clients purchase and sell land. “I really enjoy helping people, especially those who are new to owning land,” Corliss said. “I love helping people walk through each process.”
