How to Prevent Timber Theft
Pat Autrey is the owner of
Mussel Creek Forest Services, a forestry consulting business focusing
primarily on private landowners. For landowners, the potential of
timber theft is a serious issue, and it's one that can be hard to prevent
but be incredibly costly. Pat will talk about when it's more likely to
happen and steps landowners can take to try to prevent it.

When Should I Plant Seedlings on My Land?
Paul Jeffreys,
Ph.D. is a Reforestation Advisor for
ArborGen, where
he focuses exclusively on Mississippi, north Alabama, and western Tennessee.
Planting bareroot seedlings at the appropriate time is a must to ensure not

the appropriate time? Is there a specific window of time landowners should
be sure to plant? Paul will share his advice on the best time to plant to

What's Up With Timber Prices?
Harrison Hood is a Forest Economist and Research Editor at
TimberMart-South, a timber price reporting service housed at the
University of Georgia. It's no secret that timber prices have continued to
drastically increase. According to recent reports from TimberMart-South,
throughout the South "average stumpage prices increased for all three major
sawtimber products in the 3rd Quarter." Furthermore, the "pine sawtimber
price increased for the fourth consecutive quarter" and the "pine chip-n-saw
price increased for the fifth straight quarter and reached its highest level
since 4th Quarter 2007." Harrison will join us to speak about these prices
that will continue to rise and provide some insight on what to expect going
forward.
