What the Policy Says

The insurance agreement used to provide coverage states:

[The policy will] “pay on behalf of the insured all sums which the insured shall become legally obligated to pay as damages because of bodily injury or property damage” caused by an occurrence arising out of the ownership or use of the designated timberland.

This legal obligation clause is a broad insurance statement that provides legal protection to landowners who may be held legally obligated or responsible for a negligent act. The legal liability coverage provided within the program is shaped by the exclusions and conditions presented in the policy.

Examples of these exclusions are bodily injury and property damage arising out of the use of:

  • Automobiles
  • Aircraft
  • Watercraft
  • Pollution
  • Workers compensation
  • Assault & battery
  • Commercial hunting
All coverages are subject to the terms, conditions, and/or exclusions presented in the policy.
