Warnell Woods and Wildlife Camp at the Mary Kahrs Forest Education Center provides rising 4th–6th graders with a full day, immersive experience in Georgia’s forests and the natural resource careers that support them. Throughout the week, campers will develop practical forestry and outdoor skills, including compass navigation, introductory mapmaking, and safe, responsible fire building techniques. A key feature of this camp is the opportunity to learn directly from guest professionals working in forestry, wildlife biology, conservation, and other natural resource fields. Aquaponics Workshop at 325 Devils Ford Road. This course is essentially a teacher’s workshop that provides classroom and hands-on training on the principles of aquaponics. Topics will include system components and construction, system maintenance, fish handling, fish care, water quality, and diagnostics. Participants will have the opportunity to build a tabletop miniature aquaponics system, practice hands-on water quality sampling and fish handling, and develop a lesson plan that can be used in a classroom setting.
