    Learn & Burn at a location in Shelby County which will be announced to registered participants. Participants will experience a day-long – start to finish – learning opportunity. Actively participate with ignition patterns, holding techniques, and mop up. The prescribed burn will be conducted on the first available burn window between March 16-20. Depending on weather conditions, selected participants will be given 2 days advanced notice before the program is held. Register early as space is usually limited. Lunch provided. The workshop will teach basic forestry with hands-on with demonstrations, a field tour, and opportunities to practice new skills. Fee: $20.     Traditional Hunter Education Course at Mountain Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 1636 County Road 573, Hanceville. No fee. This is a one day class. A one hour lunch break will be given. Successfully completing an approved hunter education course is mandatory for all non-supervised Alabama hunting license buyers born on or after August 1, 1977. There are some exceptions.     Mapping With Drones: Remote Pilot Certification Preparation will be presented via Zoom. This workshop is essential for drone operators interested in Mapping with Drones, Photography/Videography with Drones, and others who are either interested in operating a drone or managers who need to learn more about the regulatory environment. No prior ‘drone’ operation or mapping experience is necessary. This workshop prepares individuals to take the FAA’s Remote Pilot Exam (aka Part 107).     Landowner Tour at Young Family Farm, 690 South County Road 21. Look for signs pointing to the property entrance. Topics will include restoration and management of native forest habitats, prescribed fire, and integrating timber and wildlife habitat objectives. We will tour the property on a trailer and do a little bit of walking. Wear appropriate clothing for the field and bring a water bottle. Registration required.
