Friday Afternoon Tours (Both Tours Are Full)

There will be two tours for those who arrive on Friday. Both will leave from the Lodge Parking Area at 1 p.m. Transportation will be provided. Soft drinks will be available, but please eat lunch before the tour. Tours will return to Lodge Parking Area at about 5 p.m., but ask your tour leader for return time before leaving if someone is to pick you up after the tour. Each tour was limited to the first 28 people who registered.

[FULL] YEAGER DEMONSTRATION FOREST: We will visit a 750 acre tract that is being managed by Champion International Foresters with consideration for beauty and wildlife habitat. Some parcels have been managed for intensive pine culture and others are being tested for hardwood regeneration following various harvesting methods. Road building to minimize erosion involves gabion baskets & drainage structures.

[FULL] CHAMPION INTERNATIONAL PAPER MILL: We will visit Champion’s Courtland Mill which was once the largest white paper mill in the world. We will also visit a private woodland for a brief forest management discussion.
